11/04/2016 Like the shrunked Bifrost version, Modi 2 Uber offers USB, Toslink, and RCA inputs, each individually selectable via a front-panel button. It also has a more sophisticated analog section. And, it’s ready for all sample rates, from 16/44.1 to 24/192. Again, Windows requires drivers. Alert to Microsoft: USB Audio Class 2 was, like, a decade ago. Step 2: Go to your Downloads folder (or Desktop, or wherever you had Windows put the drivers) and double-click on the Schiit_USB-Gen3_1_06.zip archive to expand it. Step 3: Click on the folder Schiit_USB-Gen3_1_06 to open it. Step 4: Connect Yggdrasil with a standard USB A-B cable, 2M or less in length, with true USB 2.0 rating—not 1.1 or 3.0. This led me back to Schiit. The entry level Modi, without a USB input ran $99. Upgrade to Modi 2 with USB input and at $149, I'm in. I rested on this spot waiting to get caught up at work—that never happened—thinking the Modi 2 was a good choice.
